  • Q: What are SSD?

SSD stands for Solid State Disk, a product that is mainly made of solid state parts, without any mechanical moving parts. SSD that are found in the market today are made using FLASH Memory, although there are still some SSD that are made using combination of RAM with some form of battery backup and FLASH.

  • Q: What is Lite-On True Speed and what benefit does it give to end users?
A:True Speed is a system that allows Lite-On manufactured drives to deliver real-life sustained high-performance. This means that end users experience consistently fast read and write speeds across the long life-time of their SSD drive. True Speed is not simply based on the server-grade controller and other advanced hardware used in our SSD solutions; it consists of complementary elements which include in-house firmware and an extensive burn-in procedure.

In some cases other manufacturers produce drives that experience drastic slowdowns in write performance after a relatively short period of use. They may even quote performance figures using optimized test results with artificial all 0 or all 1 test data. The True Speed system prevents drastic performance loss , and our performance tests are undertaken with more realistic random data sets,. This ensures happy and satisfied end users are in both the long-term and the short-term.

  • Q: What should I look for when choosing SSDs for notebooks or desktops?
A:Whether an SSD is being used in a notebook or desktop, as a main disk or boot disk there is a set of key factors to consider before choosing an SSD. The first is performance and not just initial out-of-the-box performance statistics, but sustained long-term performance statistics. Now that SSD use is entering the mainstream, users are becoming increasingly aware that with some brands the initial performance used in marketing material is unrelated to the performance level experienced a relatively short time later. A few brands offer systems to prevent this problem primarily those based on Lite-On's True Speed system.

Secondly quality, SSDs offer high capacity storage and users expect drives to store every piece of data totally reliably. To ensure that your drive has this reliability select a manufacturer that fully tests every drive and uses high-quality NAND flash from a major brand such as Toshiba. Ideally look for a maker that puts their SSDs through more than 20 hours of burn-in testing, because the longer the burn-in test the lower the chance of data being stored on unstable cells.

Finally warranty, many manufacturers talk about quality, but the most direct proof of their certainty in the quality of the product is the length of warranty they are prepared to offer. We back our products with a 2 year warranty giving value and confidence to our users.

  • Q: Malfunction after Firmware upgrade
    • Interruption during Firmware flashing process
Firmware flashing process could be interrupted by low power voltage, or sudden system shutdown. Please re-flash. If out revisable then seek warranty services.
    • Unauthorized upgrade
Be sure to use authorized upgrade only.
