mSATA SSD
The introduction of tablet PCs, and ultraslim notebooks (especially the coming generation based on Intel's Ultrabook reference design) is spurring the demand for SSDs in a range of extremely small form factors. Lite-On are the first company to be able to offer SATA-III 6Gb/s in these sizes. Amongst the housing free sizes available are the mSATA JEDEC standard MO-300B (30 x 50 mm), 30 x 102mm, and 24 x 98mm.
In addition to higher capacity drives a 32Gb model is offered for manufacturers looking to implement the Intel's Ultra-fast start up requirement whilst looking to use traditional higher capacity hard drive to maintain price points.
